Notes: A. regarding Missing class, staying in touch if you miss a class...
and B. regarding Make-ups... If you are looking to do a makeup class, how to do that...
Below, notes Especially for new families,
but a good reminder for all:
Just to remind everyone of our guidelines on missing class,
and then the general make-up approach,
as is listed every season in your handouts in the music packet (and in the "starting email")...
Here's a copy of how to best approach it.... and the "scripts" See Below
(because my daily schedule can be rather steadily busy,
I may not always be able to return everyone's phone calls /emails regarding makeups, right away.....
so, for your ease and mine, here's the method:)
A. Missing Class:
Sick? Our families have been very considerate about this.
Let’s continue it -
Please be respectful of other families and if your child is not well or contagious,
keep yourselves home and plan to come in when you feel better.
In particular this season, use extra caution to not spread things around:
most obviously: any fevers, greenish mucous
or persistent sneezing / coughing
are a sign that your child may need to stay home and wait til more healthy.
Missing Class:
If possible, Please let Christopher know
if you will not be attending your regular class.
Many of you already do this, thank you!:
A quick email note or phone call will do whenever possible,
Sample Script :)
"Hi, Christopher , we're not feeling well today and we'll be missing class..."
"Hi, Christopher , we'll be away this week and we'll be missing class..."
(this is important to help make space for others looking for make-ups...
and most importantly, it helps us know how you're doing,
if we don't see you in class.)
Even if it's later that day, it's helpful to hear from you at some point.
"Hi, Christopher , we ended up having (some changes) today and we had to miss class today."

B. Make-ups?
For your convenience, make-up classes are allowed each semester and they can be done in 2 ways.
1. We offer extra makeup days at the end of each session.
(coming up after the regular season - dates to be listed soon)
http://www.musictogethernewport.com/open-house--makeup-days.html
2. In addition, during the Current season
As a make-up, You may come to any of the classes at other times /days -
(For example , you could come twice in one week for a makeup class)
Please be considerate of other families (and your teacher) by following a few guidelines.
----
If you would like To SIGN UP FOR A MAKE-UP CLASS,
You may also do a Makeup IN ADVANCE,
if you know that you'll be missing class on a Wednesday for example,
you could plan to come on a different day that week.
• When you are ready to plan for a makeup class,
You may schedule with Christopher directly in person,
or you may CALL or email CHRISTOPHER
Please let Christopher know with RSVP (ideally at least a day in advance if possible)
the day and time that you would like to come to a make-up.
for full class schedule see your packet handout or go to:
http://www.musictogethernewport.com/
(also included below)
When you call or email about makeups,
You may consider the class confirmed unless you hear back from me.
Here's a sample phone / email message "script" you can follow,
that keeps things clear and efficient for all: 401 846-9014 or [email protected] Sample Script:
"Hi, Christopher, We'd like to come to do a makeup next week ,
on (Friday October 6th at 10:15am, for example...)
Let us know if that is a problem, otherwise we'll see you then!"
(Feel free to ad lib, but I think you get the idea!
It's much easier if you don't expect a call back about make-ups... )
Of course, if you have any questions, or would like to speak about anything,
always feel free to call.. 401-846-9014 or email any specifics....
but for just basic make-up messages, this is the way to go whenever possible
• Please be aware that in general two make-ups per semester are considered reasonable.
(But we can accomodate more than that if needed, special circumstances,, etc -
please talk to me... we can be flexible about that)

Wishing you all well as we continue onwards into our Season of music-making!
